Hello to Everyone,
We have had quite a lot going on in the Community and I have been trying to resolve a few issues before sending an update.
I do want to thank all of you who took time to come to the Road Extension Meeting on the 18th. That was quite a turn out and I know many more of you expressed to me your desire to be there, but were not able to make it.
For those who were not able to attend let me say that it was an informative meeting from both the presenters side and the residents. The gist of the overall presentation is that the study was focusing on changes to intersections on Pine Ridge Rd. to relieve traffic congestion. The Marbella Rd. / Whippoorwill connection was presented as a side item with their findings showing no significant impact on the Pine Ridge Rd. congestion issue.
The problem was that the study did include that particular proposal and as such, it would be open for discussion and possible approval by the County Commissioners. This was the biggest concern of our Board and the residents who were watching this unfold. I am very pleased to say that thanks to your support, the due diligence of your HOA Board and in particular your President Jenn Fazio who attended a County Commissioners Meeting this past Tuesday to voice concerns…
The proposal for the Whippoorwill Extension Project is off the table for the March meeting of the Collier County Board of Commissioners !! The I-75 corridor study will not include the Road Extension option in their proposal according to Lorraine Lantz from the Planning Dept. This is a Huge relief for all of us, not to say it could not be brought up again at some point in the future. We will, of course, inform everyone of any changes.
On a different note… I have been posting about the traffic issues within the Community since I first took this seat. I have complaints and concerns from residents on an almost daily basis about parking and complete disregard for the 20 MPH speed limit and the STOP signs.
I am very sorry to say that we had an accident at one of our intersections on Saturday involving a resident being struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk. The injuries were thankfully not life threatening, but rather severe none the less. This was an accident of course, but one that is bound to be repeated with perhaps even worse results if residents continue to ignore the Rules of the Road in our Community. They are there for the safety of everyone and the Association is determined to enforce them by whatever means within our power. There will be more changes coming regarding the options I have written about previously. The absolute best way to resolve this is for everyone to just be responsible and eliminate the need for further actions.
The Annual Meetings for both Associations are next week. Jan. 30th for the HOA and Feb. 1st for the Condo Assoc. Just a reminder that there will be no election held this year due to the number of Candidates declaring. Each Board will have 5 members seated per the Notices already sent out. We will be introducing the new Board Members at the meetings and personal informational sheet or “Bio’s” will be available so you can get to know them a little better.
Two more quick notes..
Tennis court reservations can be made a maximum of 24 hrs in advance. This is designed to allow all residents a chance to reserve court times as desired. Previously some were booking weeks and even months in advance for desired times. The only exception will be Mon., Wed. and Fri. from 10 am – 12pm at which time the Marbella Tennis Group will hold organized play which is open to any resident to join.
For Condo residents requesting Lanai painting, please be sure to complete the forms available at the gatehouse, online or at the Clubhouse to opt in. If you do not submit a form before Feb 2nd you will not be able to participate in the current painting schedule.
I wish everyone a wonderful weekend and hope to see many of you at next week’s meetings..!!
