Good day to ALL,

I am writing today to inform and update our residents of a very important issue directly impacting our Community.

Some of you may already be aware of the past proposals by Collier County to connect Livingston Rd. to Pine Ridge Rd. by extending Whippoorwill Ln. across the canal and incorporating Marbella Dr. ( Our current entry road connecting to Livingston Rd.).

This is part of an engineering plan to “relieve heavy traffic” on Pine Ridge Rd. to I 75. This would, of course, in effect divert this “Heavy traffic” to our Community’s Doorstep. The noise issues alone would be concerning to a great many of our residents, however, the safety and security issues would be of much greater importance to the entire Community. Imagine our Gatehouse situated directly on Livingston Rd. and the Community bus stop for school children being adjacent to this high traffic as well.

The entry road provides an important “buffer” from high speed traffic and related noise not to mention the “Through traffic” both vehicular and pedestrian a few steps from our Community walls. If the road were to be extended, I’m quite certain the sidewalk would be required to be extended as well along the northern side of the Community. At the moment you would have no reason to exit Livingston onto Marbella Dr. unless you were coming to Marbella Lakes. This extension would create unwanted local foot traffic and unnecessary potential risks to our residents from people utilizing this “short cut”. As you know our pedestrian entries are not monitored at this time. The remote location prevents this from being an issue for the time being, however, if this were a “Through Street” the Community would be forced to re-evaluate the entire entry location and procedures.

There will be a presentation regarding the proposed road extension by Collier County Planning Dept. here at the Marbella Lakes Clubhouse on January 18th at 6:30 pm.

Lorraine Lantz, the Principal Planner for Collier County will be conducting this meeting. There will be a Power Point Presentation to go over the proposed changes and a Q & A at the end. The Board would like to encourage ALL to attend. This is a great opportunity to better understand the proposal and to ask questions and voice opinions (respectfully). Regardless of your opinion on the project, it should be an informative presentation and every resident whether full-time or part-time, with or without children should be eager to participate in this process. The meeting should run about an Hour and half depending on participation in the Q and A portion.  I would suggest this is a small investment of time to protect a much larger investment you have all made as Owners.
